Token Explanation

Don’t have cash on you? No problem — you can use tokens. Tokens can be purchased with credit or debit at the market table every Sunday, and they never expire. What follows is a breakdown of the different types of tokens and how they can be used:

5 Dollar Tokens

$5 tokens

  • All vendors accept $5 tokens.
  • Purchased with credit or debit cards at the market table.
  • Cash change is given. (Tokens can not be given as change.)
2 dollar tokens

$2 Tokens

  • All vendors accept $2 tokens.
  • Purchased with cash or check at the market table.
  • Cash change is given. (Tokens can not be given as change.)
1 dollar tokens

$1 Tokens

  • Purchase must comply with SNAP/EBT guidelines.
  • Purchased with EBT cards at the market table.
  • No change is given.

Eligible products include:

  •  fruits and vegetables
  • breads
  • meat, fish and poultry
  • dairy products
  • maple and honey products
  • seeds and plants which produce food
  • baked goods: wrapped, labeled and intended for home consumption
  • value-added foods, such as jams, sauces, soup mixes, etc.

Products which cannot be purchased include:

  • beer, wine or liquor
  • tobacco products
  • nonfood items
  • food meant to be eaten on site
  • hot foods
  • vitamins and medicines
Only tokens issued at Schenectady Greenmarket may be used or redeemed at the market. Vendors may redeem tokens with the market manager at the end of market. Reimbursement will be made by check. For more information please see the market manager.
