Volunteer

Schenectady Greenmarket is always looking for volunteers. As a grassroots organization we rely heavily on the community, and volunteers, to fulfill our mission and make the market a festive and inviting destination.

Volunteers serve as board members, committee members, and help out on market days. Standing committees include: community outreach (event planning and outreach), development (fundraising and community building), finance, promotions (promoting the weekly market and special events), vendor relations (reviewing, recommending and inspecting vendors). We are actively looking for community members to serve on committees.

Market day volunteering is a great way to get to know our vendors and become part of the community. If you are a student and your school has a program to gain credit for community volunteering, please consider the market as an ideal place to be helpful, gain credit and have a good time!

Market day tasks include set up, assisting in the running of the market, greeting and helping customers, assisting vendors and closing down at the end of the day. Volunteer shifts are 8-10, 10-12, and 12-3.
