Maynard Farms:  Happy Labor Day!  Celebrate Labor Day with the fruits – and vegetables – of our labor!!  Maynard Farms will have lots of fresh and delicious fruit and vegetables to help complete your Labor Day celebration at the market this weekend.  Yellow and White Peaches and Yellow and White Nectarines are juicy and tasty!  Lots of flavorful plums will be available to choose from – Shiro, Purple Heart, Elephant Heart, Galaxy, Plum D, Red Heart, Alderman, Black Plums and Yum Yum. Blueberries and table Grapes are plump and delicious. We are picking new varieties of apples almost everyday – Gala and Blondee will join our other new season apples -Kindercrisp, Zestar, Ruby Mac and Ginger Gold! We’ll also have our sweet Fuji, Golden Delicious, Empire, Gala, Macoun and Red Delicious – and tangy to tart Mutsu, Pink Lady, Stayman Winesap and Braeburn…all are delicious, you cannot go wrong! Our fresh pressed Apple Cider is always a welcomed treat – and back this week by popular demand – PINK LADY APPLE CIDER!! Red and Green Bartlett pears are smooth and sweet.  Don’t forget about the veggies – colorful sweet peppers in yellow, red, orange, purple and green, heirloom eggplant in beautiful shades of purple and white, zucchini, summer squash, kirbies, cucumbers, garlic, cauliflower and broccoli.  Make sure you check our our award winning Heirloom Tomatoes! They are at their peak – come see our beautiful array of colors and flavors of slicing tomatoes – sweet or savory – and sweet as sugar cherry tomatoes – how will you choose?? Don’t forget the greens – generous bunches of Dino Kale, Curly Kale and Swiss Chard will all be at the markets!! That’s a mouthful – literally!!!  Look forward to seeing you!

The season is full of so many beautiful shades of tomatoes, peppers, squash, eggplants, beans, beats, lettuce…  Your salad can be a work of art!

Marynard Farms: The Heirlooms are here!! Tomatoes that is….lots and lots of beautiful field ripened Heirloom Slicing Tomatoes and Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes in gorgeous shades of red to orange and yellow to green and purple to brown. They taste even better than they look! Stop by Maynard Farms at the Farmer’s Market to check them out! Also new this week are delicate, sweet White Donut Peaches, tasty Elephant Heart Plums and fresh from the orchard Ginger Gold Apples!! Peaches and Nectarines are just fantastic – Yellow and White Peaches, Red Flesh Peaches and Yellow and White Nectarines are all juicy and flavorful. We’ll also have a terrific selection of plums – Purple Heart, Shiro, Red Heart, Plum G and Red Russian, as well as sweet Blueberries the size of quarters! Don’t forget our impressive array of crisp, tasty apples. From sweet Fuji, Golden Delicious, Empire, Macoun, Red Delicious and Pristine – and tangy to tart Mutsu, Pink Lady, Stayman Winesap and Braeburn…all are delicious, you cannot go wrong! We’ll have lots of Green and Gold Zucchini and yummy Summer Squash. Crunchy and fresh Cucumbers and Kirbies are great on their own or for adding to salads. Tender Green Broccoli and Purple, Cheddar and White Cauliflower are delicious steamed, roasted or grilled. Romanesque Cauliflower is definitely worth a try – nutty and flavorful, as well as beautiful. Don’t forget the greens – generous bunches of Dino Kale, Curly Kale and Swiss Chard will all be at the markets!! It’s time for the Second Sunday Music fest!  This week we welcome the Graeme Francis Trio.

The Graeme Francis Trio:

An accomplished percussionist and music educator, Dr. Graeme Francis has been performing with and leading small jazz groups around the US and Canada since he early 2000’s, including a performance with the Doc Watkins Trio at Carnegie Hall. He is excited to have two of his favorite collaborators with him – Tyler Giroux (valve trombone) and Lou Smaldone (bass) – for his performance at the Schenectady Greenmarket. Drawing on traditional and new arrangements of jazz standards, the Graeme Francis Trio offers an exciting and swingin’ soundtrack on August 12th from 10am-2pm. For more information about Graeme’s musical endeavors, check out GFpercussion.com

On stage this week: Ignis and Bruce Blinn-Knapp

10:00-12:00: Ignis – Colby Beach and Tristan Beach: Colby was born in Troy, New York. He is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist and also plays 6 other instruments.
Tristan was born in Plattsburgh, New York who then moved down state and is the older brother of Colby. He is the lead guitarist and also plays bass and piano.

12:00-2:00: Bruce Blinn-Knapp is a singer/songwriter/song interpreter who performs a mix of original and cover songs. He has played all around the region for years, both solo and in various bands, where he plays drums, keys, bass and guitar. In his solo career he has played at many local venues and opened shows for James McMurtry (a personal hero), Michael Franks, Bad English, Bridget Ball and others. Besides his solo shows he currently plays keys and bass guitar in the classic rock band Lifeline, plays bass and sings with the Americana group New Shoes and plays in a duet with his Lifeline partner Bill Cassidy, singing and playing keys and guitar.

12:00-2:00:Hoot Owl Moon is an acoustic duo playing, classic counrty classic rock and original song. The duo is made up of Rick Sacchetti and Courtney Marston. Rick Sacchetti has been a regular performer at the Schenectady Green Market since 2008 and Hoot Owl Moon since 2014.
