Fall Harvest has arrived!  But the mild fall weather means there are still lots of your summer favorites as well.

Pick up some pumpkins and gourds make your home look festive!
And don’t forget those beautiful fall bouquets!

Electric City Roasters:  will have a limited quantity of our new Holiday Blend, Feestdagen!  A nod to Schenectady’s Dutch roots, it’s our version of the original Mokha Java.

Healthy Gourmet Kitchen:  Soup season has officially begun! Our mixes are great for a quick, healthy, delicious meal and many can be made in the slow cooker or instant pot.

Hudson Valley Hand-cut Scones:  New! Seasonal Maple Walnut Scones. Special for all flavors: Half dozen $16.

Maynard Farms:  Visit Maynard Farms at the Farmer’s Market to see our beautiful selection of fruits and veggies. The mild weather has helped our new plantings of beans, zucchini, summer squash and peas to thrive. What a treat to have such tasty, tender veggies this time of year. It is Fall, though, and the Apple harvest is in full swing! The crew at Maynard Farms is working extra hard picking lots of new, fresh apples. Wine Crisp, Cameo, Granny Smith, Braeburn, and yes, Evercrisp will join our already impressive selection of delicious apples. We’ve got your favorites like Honey Crisp, Gala, Fuji, Macoun, Pink Lady, Empire, MacIntosh, Red Delicious and Cortland.  Or try one of our unusual or heirloom varieties – Jonathan, Northern Spy, Ida Red, Jonagold, Mutsu, Blondee, Bramley’s Seedling, Staymen Winesap or Esopus Spitzenburgh. Something for everyone! Fresh pressed Apple Cider is a true taste of fall and a perfect treat, as are our delicious pears!  Crunchy Bosc or smooth and sweet Bartlett and Magness – it’s up to you!!  Grapes are always a pleaser – Concord, Mars, Jupiter and Marquis will be at markets this weekend.  If you’re like us, you can’t let go of summer just yet – we will have delicious Yellow and White Peaches and Nectarines.  We’ll also have lots of flavorful plums to choose from – Big Red Plums, Flavor Rich, and Italian Prune Plums, juicy and delicious!!  Don’t forget your veggies! We’ll have colorful cauliflower, delicious broccoli, sweet and hot peppers, cabbage and garlic. Our Heirloom eggplant in beautiful shades of purple and white are just perfect for your delicious homemade dish. Generous bunches of tender and sweet Curly Kale, Tuscan Kale and Swiss Chard will all be at the markets!! There’s not much better to remind you of summer than a fresh picked heirloom tomato – stop by and see our beautiful selection of colorful slicing and cherry tomatoes – from sweet as sugar to more savory. All will all be available at the markets this weekend!  That’s a mouthful – literally!!!  Look forward to seeing you!

Schenectady’s Thriving Neighborhoods Challenge is The Schenectady Foundation’s new grant program, intended to help make Schenectady’s neighborhoods stronger, healthier, safer, greener and more sustainable.  The Challenge empowers citizens to come forward with their best ideas for improving their community — and then, to actually make them happen!  Along the way, neighborhood leadership is strengthened, and more people become involved in the resurgence of their community.

Other cities have been very successful with this model of citizen engagement. Why not Schenectady?

Mariaville Farm:  Fresh never frozen Chicken whole and parts. Fresh eggs from our free roaming hens. Berkshire pork and Black Angus beef. Grass fed Lamb.

Maynard Farms:  Happy Labor Day!  Celebrate Labor Day with the fruits – and vegetables – of our labor!!  Maynard Farms will have lots of fresh and delicious fruit and vegetables to help complete your Labor Day celebration at the market this weekend.  Yellow and White Peaches and Yellow and White Nectarines are juicy and tasty!  Lots of flavorful plums will be available to choose from – Shiro, Purple Heart, Elephant Heart, Galaxy, Plum D, Red Heart, Alderman, Black Plums and Yum Yum. Blueberries and table Grapes are plump and delicious. We are picking new varieties of apples almost everyday – Gala and Blondee will join our other new season apples -Kindercrisp, Zestar, Ruby Mac and Ginger Gold! We’ll also have our sweet Fuji, Golden Delicious, Empire, Gala, Macoun and Red Delicious – and tangy to tart Mutsu, Pink Lady, Stayman Winesap and Braeburn…all are delicious, you cannot go wrong! Our fresh pressed Apple Cider is always a welcomed treat – and back this week by popular demand – PINK LADY APPLE CIDER!! Red and Green Bartlett pears are smooth and sweet.  Don’t forget about the veggies – colorful sweet peppers in yellow, red, orange, purple and green, heirloom eggplant in beautiful shades of purple and white, zucchini, summer squash, kirbies, cucumbers, garlic, cauliflower and broccoli.  Make sure you check our our award winning Heirloom Tomatoes! They are at their peak – come see our beautiful array of colors and flavors of slicing tomatoes – sweet or savory – and sweet as sugar cherry tomatoes – how will you choose?? Don’t forget the greens – generous bunches of Dino Kale, Curly Kale and Swiss Chard will all be at the markets!! That’s a mouthful – literally!!!  Look forward to seeing you!
