From Maynard Farms: The summer season may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean the end of great fruits and veggies. Here at Maynard Farms our growing season is really ramping up. Stop by the Farmer’s Market this weekend to see for yourself! This week we’ll see our first table grapes of the season, beautiful Gloria Yellow Peaches, colorful Sweet Pepper, mildly hot Round of Hungary Peppers, Hungarian Hot Wax Peppers and lovely Italian Heirloom Eggplant – all are just delicious! We’ll also have our White Peaches, Yellow and White Nectarines and Yellow and White Donut Peaches. Our plums are fantastic this year – many varieties to choose from – Shiro, Purple Heart, Elephant Heart, Galaxy, Plum D, Red Heart and Yum Yum. Blueberries are plump and flavorful. The Heirloom Tomatoes continue to be just perfect! Heirloom Slicing Tomatoes and Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes in gorgeous shades of red to orange and yellow to green and purple to brown. They taste even better than they look! Zestar Apples join Ginger Gold and Pristine as our newly picked summer apples. We’ll also have our sweet Fuji, Golden Delicious, Empire, Gala, Macoun and Red Delicious – and tangy to tart Mutsu, Pink Lady, Stayman Winesap and Braeburn…all are delicious, you cannot go wrong! We’ll have lots of Green, Magda and Gold Rush Zucchini and yummy Summer Squash. Crunchy and fresh Cucumbers and Kirbies are great on their own or for adding to salads. Tender Green Broccoli and Purple, Cheddar and White Cauliflower are delicious steamed, roasted or grilled. Romanesque Cauliflower is definitely worth a try – nutty and flavorful, as well as beautiful. Don’t forget the greens – generous bunches of Dino Kale, Curly Kale and Swiss Chard will all be at the markets!! Our fresh pressed Apple Cider is always a welcomed treat – and back this week by popular demand – PINK LADY APPLE CIDER!! That’s a mouthful – literally!! Isn’t this the moment we’ve all been waiting for? The moment tomatoes have ripened on the vine, peaches become soft to the touch, and corn stands tall and full on its stalk. Come enjoy peak Summer produce from your favorite local vendors!

10:00-12:00: The Fearless Fretters will strike up a tune! This old-time acoustic ensemble will play traditional toe-tapping dance tunes from southern Appalachia.
12:00-2:00: Gabriela Giordano, a college student originally from Schenectady NY and now attending Brandeis University, is a self-taught guitarist who has been lighting the stage at the Greenmarket for almost 3 years. Welcome back, Gabriela!
