Fall has arrived!

Come to the market and stock up on your autumn favorites!

Fall Harvest has arrived! Come down to the market and get inspired to make fall feasts!

Apples, grapes, pears and plums all work beautifully in autumnal recipes.

Of course there will be eggs, dairy and wonderful prepared meals for when you don’t feel like cooking!

Capital Native Plants – Fall is a great time for planting perennials. Moisture and cool temperatures will bring flowers next year. This is our last week.

Mariaville Farm – Farm fresh eggs, our chickens are always free roaming. Berkshire pork, Black Angus beef, Grass fed lamb and fresh never frozen Pasture raised Chicken.

Maynard Farms – September may be coming to an end, but nothing is slowing down here at Maynard Farms! We are in the prime of our growing season. Summer fruits are still being picked and the apple crop is readying for harvest. It’s the perfect time to “pear” summer and fall fruits and veggies to complete your meals. Peaches, nectarines and plums to apples, pears and grapes, we’ve got you covered!  Juicy yellow and white nectarines and peaches are sweet and delicious. Lots of flavorful plums will be available to choose from – Purple Heart, Elephant Heart, Big Red Plums, Flavor Rich, Bluebird Italian Prune Plums and Black Plums. Bartlett, Bosc, Seckle, Spartlett and Magness pears offer great variation in texture and flavor.  Lots of fresh picked apples – tart to tangy to sweet – Jonathan, Zestar, McIntosh, Autumn Crisp, Honey Crisp, Fuji, Gala, Blondee and Ginger Gold.  New this week are Jonagold, Esopus Spitzenburg and Macoun!  Something for everyone!  Fragrant and flavorful grapes are just delicious – Concord, Mars, Faith, Marquis and Jupiter.  Don’t forget your veggies! We’ll have delicious and colorful sweet peppers in yellow, red, orange, purple and chocolate brown, heirloom eggplant in beautiful shades of purple, zucchini, summer squash, kirbies, cucumbers and garlic. Don’t forget the greens – generous bunches of Curly Kale and Swiss Chard will all be at the markets!! There’s not much better to remind you of summer than a fresh picked heirloom tomato – stop by and see our beautiful selection of colorful slicing and cherry tomatoes – from sweet as sugar to more savory.  All will all be available at the markets this weekend! All will all be available at the markets this weekend!  That’s a mouthful – literally!!!  Look forward to seeing you!

10 – 12 The Sympathetic Stranger — Robert Carreau — mandolin, guitar & electric mandolin; Judd Staley — guitars. These band members bring together the best of the worlds of folk, rock, bluegrass and jazz.

12 – 2 Meg Renee A singer-songwriter playing original music, folk, country, and pop music. Originally from Troy, Ohio, she has been performing since the age of 13.

Maynard Farms:  It’s back to school time and Maynard Farms has lots of healthy and delicious snack and lunch box ideas! Let’s start with Grapes – they are always a pleaser – Seedless Vanessa Red, Gratitude, Faith, Joy and Traditional Concord will be at markets this weekend!  Yellow and White Peaches and Yellow and White Nectarines are always a favorite.  Plums taste like summer – Alderman, Elephant Heart, Black, Big Red, Shiro and new this week – Flavor Grenade and Bluebird Italian Prune Plums!  We are picking new varieties of apples almost everyday – Gala, McIntosh, Blondee, Kindercrisp, Zestar and Ginger Gold! We’ll also have our sweet Fuji, Golden Delicious, Empire, Gala, Macoun and Red Delicious – and tangy to tart Mutsu, Pink Lady and Stayman Winesap…all are delicious, you cannot go wrong! Fresh pressed apple cider is always a welcomed treat! Tanager is  on our market stage!

The musical group Tanager is dedicated to the performance and interpretation of traditional jazz from the 1920’s and 30’s. The group consists of five professional musicians/teachers from the Albany area: Megan Gebert Wilson (vocals), Scott Vorwald (clarinet & saxophone), Andrew Mollica (guitar), Bill Hoeprich (bass) and Ben Rau (drums).

Marynard Farms: We’re going crazy at Maynard Farms! Plum Crazy that is!! Six varieties and still more to be picked….Purple Heart, Shiro, Elephant Heart, Galaxy, Plum D and Sugar Baby! All are flavorful and delicious, and unique! Stop by the Farmer’s Market this weekend, rain or shine, to check them out. The Heirloom Tomatoes are just perfect! Heirloom Slicing Tomatoes and Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes in gorgeous shades of red to orange and yellow to green and purple to brown. They taste even better than they look! We’ll have lots of delicious, flavorful and juicy peaches and nectarines. Blueberries are just fantastic this year – sweet and flavorful! Ginger Gold and Pristine join our impressive array of crisp, tasty apples. From sweet Fuji, Golden Delicious, Empire, Macoun and Red Delicious – and tangy to tart Mutsu, Pink Lady, Stayman Winesap and Braeburn…all are delicious, you cannot go wrong! We’ll have lots of Green, Magda and Gold Rush Zucchini and yummy Summer Squash. Crunchy and fresh Cucumbers and Kirbies are great on their own or for adding to salads. 10:00-12:00: Sticks & Strings12:00-2:00: Dave Moore is a resident of Greenwich, NY, where he is involved in the regional music scene, playing at local establishments and hosting acoustic jams and open mics. Dave is also a member of the popular Albany based band CAC. Dave’s musical influences include John Prine, Steve Earle, Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy, James Taylor and John Denver, to name just a few. Dave also plays banjo, and played clarinet and saxophone for over 20 years in a regional summer pops band before deciding to focus his musical talents on singing and playing guitar, both solo and with CAC.

12:00-2:00:Hoot Owl Moon is an acoustic duo playing, classic counrty classic rock and original song. The duo is made up of Rick Sacchetti and Courtney Marston. Rick Sacchetti has been a regular performer at the Schenectady Green Market since 2008 and Hoot Owl Moon since 2014.
