November 22 Inside Proctors, Sunday 10-2 --- Prepare for Thanksgiving at the market! Select the perfect potatoes, carrots, squash, fruits and greens for your celebration. Stock up on sausage, celeriac, mushrooms and onions for stuffing and gravy. Set the scene with a beeswax candle or boxwood centerpiece for your table. Pick up cranberry jelly, greens and crusty bread for your turkey sandwich. Celebrate the bounty of our area and give thanks for our local farmers, bakers, artists and chefs. --- 39 Steps is playing at Proctors at 2:00 on Sunday and the lot behind Proctors will be charging for parking. To avoid parking fees, park by City Hall and walk down Jay Street. Our meat vendors Mariaville Angus and Sweet Tree Farm are currently taking orders for holiday roasts, hams and leg of lamb. Coopers Ark Farm also takes special orders. Mariaville Angus: prime rib roast, rib steaks, t-bone steaks, porter house and sirloin steaks, five types of beef sausage (breakfast, sweet, hot, chorizo and andouille) with no nitrates or msg, ground hamburger and patties. Taking orders for holiday roasts, hams and leg of lamb Cooper’s Ark Farm: eggs and chicken sausage Native Farms: long-lasting seasonal centerpieces and boxwood trees with dried fruit, grains and greens Ambitions Coffee and Eatery: omelets, coffee, egg sandwiches—located downstairs! Sweet Tree Farm: will be bringing fresh beef. They are also taking orders on a first come, first served basis until December 7 for beef rib roasts and fresh or smoked ham roasts for the holidays. Shushan Valley Hydroponic: tomatoes, green tomatoes, arugula Merry Hill Farm: alpaca yarn, knitting kits, and raw and carded fiber for spinning and crafts. Special educational alpaca display with pictures and information about alpacas, and fiber samples to see and touch Barbers Farm: sugar pumpkins (great for pies!), Indian corn (the perfect decoration!), no-spray carrots, German red garlic, leeks, squash (butternut, acorn, sweet dumpling, buttercup, spaghetti, delicata), fresh greens (red leaf lettuce, Swiss chard, romaine, arugala), kale (red, green), cabbage (red, green, pointy headed), brussel sprouts, cauliflower, kohlrabi, potatoes (red cheiftans, Chippewa, russet, and Yukon gold (What is Thanksgiving without Mashed Potatoes!) --- From Shushan Valley Hydroponic: ARUGULA SALAD serves 4 2 bunches of Shushan Valley Hydroponic arugula - nice and clean no dirt to wash off! 1/3 cup of candied walnuts (Mix nuts, 1 tablespoon corn syrup, 1 teaspoon sugar salt pepper and cayenne pepper - mix together bake at 350 for 10 - 15 minutes) 1 red pear sliced Shaved Parmesan - 4-6 shaves per salad 4 - 8 Shushan cherry tomatoes halved 8 kalmata olives (if you like) red wine vinaigrette -- We look forward to seeing you at the market! | |
